Need Help Paying Your Bill?
Kirkwood Electric understands that energy costs can fluctuate and that unexpected challenges can make it difficult to stay current on your bill. We’re here to help. Our payment assistance options and partner programs are designed to support you through temporary financial hardships or seasonal cost changes—keeping your service connected and your energy budget steady.

- Budget Billing Plan - Smooths out monthly costs to avoid large seasonal changes.
- Payment Assistance with KirkCare - Short-term financial help for qualifying households.
Budget Billing
Budget Billing is a free, stable payment plan that averages your payments across the year, so you can avoid spikes from winter heating or summer cooling.
How It Works
- We total your previous 11 monthly bills from the past year.
- We divide that total by 11 to determine your average monthly payments.
- For the next 11 months—beginning in April—you are billed that same average amount each month.
- In March, we true up your account and bill or credit the difference based on actual usage.
You may apply at any time; your participation begins in April. Each March, we recalculate a new average for the upcoming year.

To enroll in Budget Billing, call Utility Billing Customer Service at (314) 822-5843. A team member will guide you through the quick sign-up process.
Payment Assistance with KirkCare
The City of Kirkwood partners with KirkCare, a local nonprofit that provides food and financial assistance to families and individuals in need. If you’re struggling to pay your electric bill, help is available.
